Breast Augmentation (Augmentation Mammoplasty)

As its name suggests, this category focuses on increasing the size of the breasts. This can usually be achieved with fat transfer, breast implants, or both.

Within this category, there are several types of surgeries:

Primary Augmentation: This refers to the first breast augmentation procedure with breast implants.

Secondary Augmentation (Revision Surgery): This means that the patient already has breast implants and wants to replace them (many women choose revision surgery to change the size, shape, brand, to correct a complication, or simply as a precaution).

Mastopexy and Mastopexy Augmentation

Commonly known as a breast lift, this procedure involves raising the nipple higher and removing excess skin, usually done to counteract sagging tissue. On its own, this procedure is not part of the augmentation category. However, it is common for women to combine it with breast implants to complete the youthful, perky look they were aiming for and is called breast augmentation.

Breast Reconstruction

This category applies to surgeries that focus on reshaping the breast after tissue loss or damage due to cancer, prophylactic mastectomy, or a serious breast abnormality that prevents the breast from developing properly.

Similar to breast augmentation, breast reconstruction is also divided into primary and secondary (revision) surgeries that refer to whether the patient has had prior surgery or not.
