Delayed loading implantology

Biphasic

According to this approach, after inserting the implant, it must be “buried” under the gum, to be repaired from bacteria and stress.

After 3-6 months, the patient undergoes a new surgery in which the implant is uncovered and a kind of cap (healing screw) is placed, which allows the gum to heal.

Monophasic

With the evolution of implantology, doctors have managed to insert this “cap” already at the time of insertion of the implant.

This system has the advantage of avoiding the patient having to undergo 2 surgical operations, as happens instead in biphasic deferred loading.

However, it is a less predictable intervention than biphasic loading. In fact, the healing screw often tends to stress the implant during the period in which it should remain stable.

Consequently, with monophasic loading the implant may struggle to integrate into the bone.
