Dental prosthetics

Fixed dentures are a common solution for replacing missing teeth. Fixed dental prostheses are made up of crowns or bridges and cannot be removed without surgery. This type of fixed denture replaces lost teeth permanently. It is called “fixed” because it is attached to natural teeth or dental implants.

Some types of fixed dental prosthesis:

1.Dental cap on a natural tooth or on an implant: The crown or dental cap is a prosthesis on one or more teeth that allows the replacement of the external and visible part of the tooth.

The materials used are usually:

Metal-ceramic: the coating is in ceramic and the internal structure in metal. They combine the resistance of metal with the beauty of ceramic which simulates natural teeth.

Zirconium: similar to the previous ones, since zirconium is a white metal. Very aesthetic and resistant.

Lithium disilicate: they are metal-free and characterized by a high resemblance to natural teeth.

Metal-composite: consisting of an internal metal part and an external part in white composite resin similar in color to natural teeth.

2.Bridge:

It is a type of fixed prosthesis that is made up of two or more single crowns between which one or more missing elements are interposed.

3. Total prosthesis for the entire dental arch:

It is a fixed prosthesis screwed onto 4 or 6 implants.

4.Total circular prosthesis:

It uses implants or teeth still present, which are filed and covered by the prosthesis.

5.Maryland Bridge:

It is an “adhesive” bridge made up of teeth supported by a metal structure.

Teeth attacks
Dental brackets, also known as attachments, are small composite (plastic) buttons that facilitate treatment with transparent orthodontic appliances.
What are ATTACHMENTS?

The attachments are composite elements of the same color as the tooth. They are fixed on the outside of the teeth before treatment with aligners for complex malocclusions. These attachments make moving the tooth faster and more efficient by increasing the pressure needed on the tooth. They are used for dental corrections such as rotations or teeth that are too short.

Composition of attachments

The brackets are made of a composite that closely resembles the color of your teeth. This material is made up of biocompatible resins and quartz and glass. On the surface of the tooth, no trace remains after removal of the brackets.

WHEN ARE ATTACHMENTS NECESSARY?

Attacks are especially necessary in the following cases:

o          Severely rotated or crooked teeth.

o          Dental crown tilted to move the teeth up or down (into the bone). They are mainly used for the upper lateral incisors or small molars, as rotation is more difficult with these teeth.

Attachment quantity:

The number of attacks depends on the specific treatment plan.
